J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Course – Eligibility Criteria
Experience Level – This J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Course is for those with no, or very limited, experience of using a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance.
Age – To attend this J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Course and operate a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance in the workplace you must be at least school leaving age (16). Please note, subject to a risk assessment, if you are under the age of 18 you may need to be supervised in the workplace when using a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance until you reach the age of 18. In addition, no person under the age of 18 can use a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance on docks, or ports.
Language – This J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Course has multiple classroom-based theory lessons throughout. A written theory test is also mandatory. In addition, the safe use of a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance requires that the operator reads and understands any safety signs, local safety notices, and can thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s operator handbook for a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance.
The practical training aspect of this J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Course, and the mandatory practical test of operating skills, involves continuous verbal instructions that the trainee must be able to understand and act upon in a safe manner.
Therefore, good comprehension of English language and literacy are important for attending this J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Course.
Note – In extreme cases, an accredited translator can be used for the purposes of testing. The chosen translator must not be a candidate on the J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Course and must not alter the sense of any of the answers given by the candidate. If required, please seek legal advice on the use of an accredited translator.
Medical – There is currently no legislation or clear medical guidance available in relation to the specific use of a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance. In general, we would apply the HSE principle that each person’s fitness for operating a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance should be judged individually to ensure that people with disabilities are not disadvantaged but competence in an emergency must always be considered.
We would therefore generally follow the health guidance issued by the DVLA for Group 1 entitlement if the need arises to assess capabilities for operating a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance.
Essentially, if you are not, or would not be restricted in obtaining a UK driving licence, then there should be no restrictions in operating a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance in normal circumstances.
Note – All trainees are required to sign a medical declaration at the beginning of these J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Courses.
Driving Licence – You do not need a driving licence (car licence) to attend this J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Novice Course, nor do you need a driving licence to operate a J1 Rough Terrain Masted Counterbalance Truck on business premises (unless it is taken onto a public road).

Language – This J1 Experienced Operator Course has multiple classroom-based theory lessons throughout. A written theory test is also mandatory.
