Manual Pump Truck Categories

Did you know that under PUWER 1998 you need training to use a pump truck and that there are more than one type of Manual Pump Truck?

The Accredited Bodies Association (ABA) has identified 4 categories of Manual Pump Truck Courses used in the UK.

They are Category Z1, Z2, Z3, and Z4.

Each category of Manual Pump Truck has a different purpose in the workplace and they each require a separate operator certificate. 

You will need to receive formal training from a forklift instructor before using each category of Manual Pump Truck.

YES! Training in the use of all variants of pump truck/hand truck is a legal requirement in the UK – Regulation 9, of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98), makes it very clear that an employer must provide adequate training for all persons who use work equipment, such as pump trucks This includes training in how the equipment should be used, the risks involved and precautions to be taken.

For individuals and businesses wanting pump truck training at a training centre, our forklift training centre is based in Moreton, Wirral, CH46 1DW.

For businesses we can offer onsite training on their premises. 

Yes. We provide onsite pump truck courses to businesses in Wirral, Liverpool, Merseyside, North West regions. Our instructors have a wealth of experience in meeting the onsite training needs of our business customers.

2.25 to 3 hours, depending on the type of pump truck, type of course (Novice/Refresher/Experienced/Conversion), and the number of trainees on the course.
